Establishment Type: Le Drakkar positions itself as a beer bar with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Customer reviews highlight the warm and typical ambience of the place. It could be described as a cosy Belgian-style pub, where you quickly feel at home.
The owner (a true Viking?), Corentin, is young but has solid experience. He worked in several bars before opening his establishment. This makes Le Drakkar a quality tavern. We like to describe the type of clientele this bar serves, and here, tradition is respected, with students and regulars present. Tourists will find a prime spot to enjoy a few beers because the waiters speak English. You could say that the bar attracts metalheads or rockers, but during our last visits, casual drinkers, athletes, students… were all part of the party, so open to all.
No cocktails here, but a great beer menu. Indeed, to differentiate itself from other establishments, the Drakkar doesn’t offer cocktails, but rather a tavern atmosphere.
Of course, the Viking universe is central to the decor, but the bar references a few films and series: The Lord of the Rings and The Witcher.
The bar’s counter is shaped like a Drakkar with a dragon’s prow. The tables and chairs are covered with cowhide, and a small cellar for added privacy.
Dim lighting and the omnipresent wood furniture make this place very warm and welcome.
Music-wise, the bar is mostly metal and rock. Concerts are planned soon.
The Drakkar will soon open a room dedicated to axe throwing. (Follow their Facebook page for more information and news.)
